IronVault was never just meant to be a gym page.

The idea behind it began with a simple thought. What if the most disciplined gym-goers at university had somewhere to document their progress, hold each other accountable and give every session a little more meaning?

Behind that was Tobi.

A few months ago, Tobi approached me with the concept of which is now IronVault. He wanted to create something that went beyond those typical gym pictures you take whilst lifting weights or another collection of gym videos. He wanted to build a platform around people, their discipline, their ambitions and, most importantly, the lives they were building outside the gym.

The idea is what made IronVault different.

Tobi believes that if we are going to document our progress, we should show more than the weights we lift or the physiques we build. There is a bigger story happening around all of us.

Vlogs, conversations, and everyday moment i’ll be becoming just as important as the training itself. The aim is to allow people watching IronVault to see the individuals behind the discipline, the friendships, the struggles, the ambitions, and the uncertainty that comes with trying to figure out what comes next.

And for the IronVault team, that uncertainty is becoming increasingly familiar.

Most of us have now entered a completely different stage of life. University, which once gave us a shared environment and made seeing each other almost effortless, is over. We have graduated and are now trying to establish ourselves in our respective careers.

Tobi is no different.

Having recently graduated, he is looking to build his career within the sports industry. Like the rest of us, he is navigating his next steps whilst continuing things that he has a true desire for.

That is part of what makes IronVault so important to him.

Tobi sees the platform as an anchor, something that can keep a group of highly motivated people connected even as our lives begin to move in different directions.

The reality, however, is that staying connected is not always easy.

As we have all gone separate ways in terms of living away from university, our spontaneous university gym sessions, conversations, and meet-ups that once felt normal now require planning.

Life has become busier.

Careers have become a priority.

 Responsibilities have changed.

And yet, the idea behind IronVault remains.

If anything, the challenges of post-university life have given the platform for a greater purpose.

Tobi is graduating from university.

IronVault is no longer simply about documenting how we train. It’s about documenting how we grow.

The gym provides the consistency. It gives us somewhere to return to when everything else feels uncertain. Training is something we can control, even when career, finances, locations and the future itself are less certain.

For Tobi, that discipline can become part of a bigger story.

The hope is that someone following IronVault won’t only see a group of people working out. They will see a group of young people trying to build something for themselves.

They will see the early stages of careers.

The setbacks.

The friendships.

The days when motivation disappears.

The days when we show up anyway.

And that is ultimately what Tobi wanted when he first came up with the idea.

Highly motivated individuals in the early stages of their careers, ambitious but still figuring things out.

The gym is simply where that motivation becomes visible.

University gave us 3 to 4 years of structure. Now that structure is gone, we are responsible for creating our own.

IronVault can be part of that.

The page may slow it all at times; not everyone of us lives in London currently. Inevitably, life will get in the way, whether it is careers, family, or distance.

But the intention is not to pretend that these difficulties don’t exist.

They are part of the story.

If IronVault is going to be an honest representation of who we are, then the audience should see those realities.

Because behind every gym session is a person.

Behind every person is life.

And behind IronVault is Tobi, the person who looked at a group of university gym goers and saw the possibility of something bigger.

Now, as all of us begin figuring out what life is like after university, IronVault has become more than the platform he originally imagined.

It has become a reason to keep showing up.

For the gym.

For ourselves.

And for each other.
